Office Block in Fellbach

As a reflection of the bespoke services the company provides, the form of this office block was to be tailored to the individual needs of the staff. It was to contain a variety of spaces, from group working areas to unit offices and conference rooms. This, in turn, called for different aspects, forms of enclosure and lighting. The building was initially designed not for a specific site, but to clearly defined parameters in terms of costs, the area required and the period of construction. The simply articulated outer envelope, consisting of two closed and two glazed facades, accommodates four floor levels, which are square on plan and linked by a continuous, vertical open space that rises irregularly through the full height of the building. The three upper levels have the same layout, but are turned successively by 90°, so that the line of access via thestaircase is in a spiralling form. The containers that house the conference rooms and sanitary areas were hoisted into position in theskeleton-frame structure. The prefabricated floor, wall and stair elements were also inserted within this framework. The entire building isconstructed from standard elements in readily available materials.
