Overhaul of a House in Chamoson

This tri-partite stone house in an awe-inspiring mountain setting has stood the test of time since 1814. Its limestone facades blend seamlessly into the surroundings. The original building massing was maintained. There is also continuity in the extreme sense of solidness emanating from the house. Thanks to the high standard of insulation, controlled ventilation, heat recovery, and extensive solar collectors on the roof, this house meets Switzerland’s criteria for sustainable construction. The austere exterior is echoed inside, where exposed concrete walls, the original stone masonry, and polished cement set the tone. It’s left to the new cabinetry – with its high-buff surfaces – to provide contrast and colour.
