Palais de Tokyo, conversion and extension by Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal

Roof top restaurant

The Palais de Tokyo will become the largest contemporary art centre in the world when it reopens in April this year after a 10 month refurbishment and expansion. From the 12th April there will be a three day, non-stop celebration where artists and their work will re inhabit the building. Architects Anne Lacaton and Jean Philip Vassal, have designed the spaces, and some of the work on show will celebrate the architecture by responding to it. There is a strong programme set for the next 12 months, and I am particularly looking forward to the inauguration of the Fondation Pierre Bergé – Yves Saint Laurent, where five lesser- known artists at a time will exhibit their first solo show in a major French institution. The first to go will be Cécile Beau, Sarah Fauguet & David Cousinard, Zdenek Kosek, Benoît Pype and Maxime Rossi.
