Pavilion in Streatley on Thames

The pavilion comprises a transparent glass and steel structure cantilevered out over the river on two raking supports. It was designed as a place to sit and entertain guests. The platform consists of a steel framework of hollow sections and Å-beams, with additional bracing provided by the 63 mm solid timber flooring. The roof is supported by two cruciform and two tubular steel columns and is clad with copper sheeting. The frameless glazing is clamped in position by steel angles that are obscured from sight by the channels supporting the roof and the edge of the floor. Between the panes of glass are 10 mm silicone joints. A fan-operated heating system circulates warm air through the perforated hollow-sections of the floor structure.
