There are people who are a bit nervous at the prospect of the approaching holiday bustle. They are happiest when they know they can simply withdraw from time to time. There is now the perfect hiding place for these people.
It is a special retreat, barely visibly located in the Swiss Alps. You have to know exactly where this ‘cabin’ can be found, for it has been disguised as a boulder in the middle of a field of large stones. This cabin, whose interior is made of wood, has enough space for one person and is encased in a concrete shell. Camouflage at its best!
The sheltering boulder is called Antoine – Bureau A’s homage to the great Swiss author Charles-Ferdinand Ramuz in the name of one of the main characters in the novel Derborence. After a rockslide, Antoine is trapped under a stone for seven weeks before he is able to return to his village. Today’s Alpine hikers will find this stone a bit more comfortable – it features a bed, stove, table and chair, not to mention peace and solitude.
