Play Urbanology

There is only three weeks left to play Urbanology - online or at the BMW Guggenheim Lab in New York.
Urbanology is an interactive game that can be played at the BMW Guggenheim Lab in New York and online. It was installed with the objective to analyze the complex ways in which cities develop - to examine and address issues that arise when cities grow and inhabitants try to institute lasting change .
The game was developed by the New York-based media design firm Local Projects in cooperation with the Durch architecture, urbanism and landscape design office Zones Urbaines Sensibles (ZUS) with the intention to put residents in charge of their city by presenting them with a variety of real-world urban dilemmas.
Every decision residents make impacts their city negatively or positively and that a lot of times in unexpected ways.
When looked at them together, these accumulated impacts build a matrix of priorities for the future city and that can be compared to the equivalent matrices of real-world cites.
At the end of gameplay, a custom algorithm takes eight major categories (innovation, transportation, health, affordability, wealth, lifestyle, sustainability, and livability) into account, and then calculates the closest real-world equivalent to the city that a player - a resident - created.
