Pommery eye garden for the Cityscapes Garden Design Festival by Andy Sturgeon.

London eye with garden

This is the season when the British love of gardens and gardening bubbles exuberantly to the surface, so lets enjoy it. London hosts the Chelsea Flower Show, the Chelsea Fringe (see other post today) and here the Southbank and Bankside Cultural Quarter's Cityscapes festival. Garden designer Andy Sturgeon has commandeered a capsule from the London Eye and temporarily converted it in to an elegant city garden. Perhaps resembling a flying balcony. The concept of the garden is straightforward in that the foliage obscures, and is framed by the metropolis beyond . A sound piece by Darryl Moore develops throughout the journey as the eye rotates and the views of the city gradually change. The garden had to be designed so that it could be installed overnight and be ready for the public by 8.00am. With gratitude to Landezine. internal view of garden inside capsule looking out more plants plants in the capsule looking in the capsule
