Reduction of NOx
Bauder’s Karat Air+ bituminous capping sheet reduces nitrogen oxide in the air, according to the company. For this purpose, the sealing sheets are coated with an active substance produced according to a patented process. Sunlight triggers a photocatalytic process on the coated sheet that converts the chemical nitrogen oxide compounds into harmless compounds, with no harmful residues remaining on the sheet. The sheet must remain clean so that the active ingredient can react with the sun and the ambient air. The sheet is therefore hydrophilic and should be laid with a minimum roof pitch of 2 %. This leads to a self-cleaning effect and aids with the annual maintenance of the roof.
