Rehousing the American Dream. Exhibition MoMA
The financial and property crisis have soured the American Dream to the extent that some believe it needs re-defining and re-imagining. The Museum of Modern Art is holding an exploration and exhibition titled Foreclosed: Rehousing the American Dream. It invited 5 design teams working within the findings of the Buell Hypothes – a research report into the state of American housing resulting from the crisis – to re-imagine how things could be.
Each team focused on the suburban areas in a specific town in one of five regions. Their task was to re-imagine existing patterns of living, working and home ownership. The five teams were: WORKac that developed Nature City in Keiser, Oregan, Zago Architecture with Properties with Properties in Rialto, California, MOS with Thoughts on a Walking City in The Oranges, New Jersey, Visible Weather who developed Simultaneous City for Temple Terrace, Florida and Studio Gang Architects who developed The Garden in the Machine.
