Renovation for Energy-Efficiency: Principles-Issues to be addressed-Possibilities

Previously, renovation jobs were only interesting to architects when the project was a protected historical monument or particularly notable buildings, the energy efficiency of the project usually being of secondary importance. Improvements in energy efficiency have developed from a “nice to have” option to an essential component, one which is often the initial reason for renovation in the first place. Meanwhile, a multitude of examples demonstrate that energy-efficient renovation and ambitious architecture are by no means contradictory.
