RIBA International Awards and Lubetkin Prize shortlist unveiled


RIBA, RIBA International Awards, Lubetkin Prize

The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has announced the five winners of this year’s international awards and shortlisted three of them for the Lubetkin Prize. The Lubetkin Prize is awarded for the most outstanding building outside the EU by an RIBA member and is chosen from the winners of the RIBA International Awards.

This year’s nominees are:

? COOP HIMMELB(L)AU’s extension to the Akron Art Museum in Akron/Ohio

? Gianni Botsford Architects’ Casa Kike in Cahuita/Costa Rica (featured in current issue Detail German/English 6/2008 „Simple Forms of Constructions“)

? Cullum & Nightingale Architects’ New British High Commision in Kampala/Uganda

The winner of the Lubetkion Prize will be announced on 27 June.


The following two project are receiving the remaining international awards:

? Adjaye Associates’ Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver/Colorado

? Kuwabara Payne McKenna Blumberg Architects’ refurbishment and extension of the Gardiner Museum of Ceramic Art in Toronto
