Rotatable Housing Cube in Dipperz
The concept foresees the various functions of a house accommodated in spatially discrete cubes. The first unit to be realized so far is the living cell. Enclosed on three sides by highly insulated timber-panel walls, it is supplied with electricity by photovoltaic panels, so that it is virtually self-sufficient in terms of energy. The fourth wall consists of triple low-E glazing with a xenon filling. This ensures considerable
solar-energy gains, even in winter, and also creates a sense of spaciousness. Folding and pull-out furnishings transform the space into a realm for living, working and sleeping. The views out and the heat gains through the glazing can be controlled by manually rotating the cube on a pivoting bearing.
