Rowing and Canoeing Centre in Alange

Situated between the shore of the lake and the small spa town, the two-storey building adopts a respectful stance ­towards the natural environment. Visitors are welcomed by a robust steel structure: a flat-roofed pavilion set on a ­solid platform. The covered outdoor terrace, with an all-round view, forms a shady meeting place for athletes. The internal spaces, enclosed within the glazed facade, can be used for various events. What at first looks like the base slab of the pavilion reveals itself, when viewed from the lake below, to be the floor over a solid exposed-concrete plinth structure.
