Semi-Detached Houses in Berlin-Weißensee

These four dwellings are located on an 1800 m2 site adjacent to a lake and park; with their clear typology, the two buildings distinguish themselves from the heterogeneous surroundings. The building massing is characterised by two excisions on opposite corners, providing privacy screens for the terraces. In consideration of the clients’ future needs, all rooms are 24m2, and thus highly flexible. The concept’s simplicity is reflected in the restrained detailing. The exterior walls – of load-bearing, single-leaf masonry – were finished in through-coloured, mineral-based rendering. There are oak-plank floors in all the rooms, yet due, in part, to the repetition (4 units), the building costs could be kept under control.
