Service Centre in Munich

The entrances to the Police, First Aid and Event Management departments of the new Service Centre at the Theresienwiese are visibly marked by three lift gates of building height proportions. This hermetically sealed façade is the result of the extreme safety requirements for a building which stands empty for most of the year, in addition to the Octoberfest and its inherent risk of vandalism. The façade is transformed into a smooth, completely closed skin. Hidden behind the expanded metal folding shutters, however, is extensive fenestration, the lift gates reveal generously glazed entrance areas and concealed doors are integrated into the façade and barely visible. Four fully glazed courtyards, which are cut into the cuboid, also allow views into the interior through shimmering green glass.
