Shop in New York

The client wished the shop to reflect the design of the futuristic clothing sold there, which he describes as a protective layer with variable, multifunctional elements. The walls and floors are lined uniformly with grey linoleum, with rounded transitions between the two. The linoleum is drawn up over the cash desk and staircase balustrade, exposing an orange painted finish to the cut-out areas behind. Some of the existing pipes and beams penetrate the new skin to provide ready-made hooks and rails. The rear area is set off from therest of the shop by a lower room height andlighting strips in the floor and ceiling, thus allowing a different part of the collection to be presented in visually distinct surroundings.
