Shore Promenade in Malmö

Situated on a tongue of land surrounded by the sea, a 10,300 m2 site was developed in 2001 in the context of the Bo01 housing exhibition in Malmö. Some 650 new dwellings have been created here to date. The western shore has been laid out as a public promenade that extends from a large square and provides a spatial contrast to the narrow lanes between the housing. A raised timber path runs along the seafront, which is articulated with different pavings. The cobblestones and asphalt are, in turn, linked and unified by integrated lighting strips. Leading down to the sea between large boulders are flights of steps, at the foot of which are small concrete bathing platforms covered with seaweed.
