The extension of Württemberg State Library in Stuttgart, designed by Lederer Ragnarsdóttir Oei, primarily stands out on account of its White Portland exposed-concrete facade, created with a formwork skin of rough-sawn boards. The bright colouration of the concrete skin achieved with the white cement is further enhanced by pigmentation with titanium dioxide. The facade was installed as an in-situ concrete shell with core insulation in front of the load-bearing concrete walls.
