Sitting on Your Money Takes on New Meaning

This is a shame, or so thought Swiss designer Angela Mathis. She has given cancelled banknotes a new purpose. With no assigned value, bills are essentially a mixture of cotton and linen. These textiles, shredded and reworked, have become comfortable, visually interesting cushions in Mathis’ stool design. For her master’s project, she created several seats in a variety of colours resulting from a combination of the green US dollar, the violet British pound, brown Indonesian rupees and the bright shades of the euro. This is a new take on upcycling that has value of a different kind. Source: Design Milk
