Steel house to go: Vipp Shelter

This pre-fabricated building, set up for the first time at a romantic lake near Copenhagen as a weekend escape or secret getaway, is all of a piece – literally. The industrially pre-assembled building was developed by the Danish design company Vipp. Chief designer Morten Bo Jensen describes the Vipp Shelter as a tool made to accomplish something – in this case an escape to nature. "We didn't want to make a house or a mobile home. Vipp is rooted in the manufacture of industrial objects, so the term "shelter" is a typology that allows us to define this hybrid as a spacious, functional and livable object". Whatever the case, the minimalist 55-square-metre steel structure fulfils basic living needs at a very high standard, and is provided throughout with Vipp fixtures and furnishings. From the bathroom through the cutlery to the bed linen, everything reflects the design firm's DNA.
