Straightforword consistency: Three blocks of flats in Buchs

The impressive mountain panorama of the Rhine valley and the adjacent Principality of Liechtenstein form a magnificent backdrop for the three compact apartment buildings. Excellent public transport connections, a nearby primary school and a nursery school fulfil the prerequisites for pleasant family life.
Although the flat-roofed structures in their low-maintenance grounds are connected by an underground garage, on the ground level they consist of self-contained apartment buildings separated by green spaces. A central staircase provided daylight from above around forms the massive core around which the three apartments are grouped on every storey of the houses. Each of the apartment buildings has plastered facades, large, wood-framed windows and circumferential balconies that are accessible from every room, thus extending the residential space to the outdoors. The balcony parapets in glass and the sliding wooden elements placed before them form a second, alterable skin, whereby the permanently integrated movable panels provide even the ground-level terraces with the possibility for individual shading.
The clean-lined form idiom that characterises the exterior is also to be found in the apartments, which range from 2.5 to 4.5 rooms in size. The dwellings can be flexibly furnished and each have an open kitchen, dining and living area leading over to individual rooms fitted with oak parquet flooring. Kaundbe Architekten has managed to provide every unit in these straightforward blocks of flats with direct outdoor access as well as light-flooded indoor spaces for a friendly living atmosphere.
