Studio Paulien Bremmer

Video, photography, architecture – Paulien Bremmer works in many creative areas. She completed her studies of architecture at Delft University of Technology (TU Delft) in 1994 and founded Studio Paulien Bremmer in 2001. Since then she has been working on architectural projects as well as in teaching and research. For Bremmer, architecture means creating social spaces that can be used in multifaceted ways. Her distinctive projects come about through multidisciplinary and participative design processes, which also include office parties. Her work ranges from a bookshelf to the extension of the Gerrit Rietveld Academy – a structure that unfolds like a landscape to complement the campus of one of the most renowned universities in the Netherlands. A graduate herself of the academy, Bremmer studied time-based art there from 2000 to 2006; her art installations have been exhibited internationally. She currently teaches at TU Delft, the Rietveld Academy, the Academy of Fine Arts in Samara, Russia, and the University of São Paulo, Brazil.
