Teachers' Training College in Chur Natural Science Tract
The great transparency of this building reveals its scientific function. Only certain areas of the end faces have an opaque inner skin behind the glazing. The flush planar quality of the facade elements and the vertical glazed joints at the corners of the building accentuate the rational, crystalline structure. The dense external vegetation extends up to the face of the block, forming a bold contrast with the artificial world of the scientific laboratories within. Visual contacts between inside and outside alternate with reflections of the surroundings in the facades of the building, which is completely transformed in appearance when the sunblinds are extended or the ventilation grilles are opened.
