Terminal in Yokohama

A passenger terminal for ship cruises which, apart from the expected functions, also integrates public uses. The roof of the terminal acts as an unusual entrance to the city in addition to being an extension to the existing city park. The form of the building is derived from a flow diagram of visitor movements. Convolution and bending of both the roof and storey spaces produce crevices and trenches in the external surfaces of the building, allowing interior and exterior to merge in a fluid style.
