Terracotta Yellow Ceramic Tiles

With finger-sized grooves, the ceramic facade of the Bodegas Lozano is reminiscent of clay jugs in which wine matures. With its design, Madrid-based architecture studio Morph takes up a tradition in the Spanish wine-growing region of La Mancha and makes it visible in the winery’s exterior. The individual ceramic facade of terracotta-yellow tiles was developed in close coordination between the architects and Lower Bavarian manufacturer Moeding.

Facade tiles with a radius of 2000 mm cover the concave and convex curvatures of the outer shell. Each of the up to 1500 mm long Longoton tiles has up to four horizontal grooves. From a distance, they are indistinguishable from the horizontal joints. A total of 2000 m2 of facade surfaces were covered with ceramic tiles, the natural surface of which varies in appearance depending on the weather.
