The architecture of baking – food art by Dinara Kasko

The term "cake" seems much too ordinary for the culinary creations that emerge from the oven – or kitchen – of the Ukrainian pastry chef Dinara Kasko. After all, her little masterpieces are based more on the principles of architecture than those of cake decoration.
Kasko uses mathematical calculations and the principles of the Voroni method in the design of her cakes, coming up with 3D-printed models and silicone moulds in the process. This is how she produces works of art that apart from their aesthetic appeal also taste delicious – even if their flavour is difficult to tell at first glance. Whatever the case, eating them almost seems a shame.
