The Fifth International Conference on Façade Engineering

The Fifth International Conference promises a dynamic program with inspiring presentations by leading architecture and façade engineering professionals about the latest trends and solutions in the facade engineering of skyscrapers. This year, world-renowned experts from different industries will be re-introduced, giving a fresh perspective on the latest trends and innovations in design. The upcoming fifth edition will be supported by the American Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat (CTBUH), to which ETEM is a member.

Among the confirmed presenters is the name of Miron Mutyaba, chief designer at Zaha Hadid Architects. He will present innovative architectural designs and the use of new computational techniques in the design and rationalization of complex facades.

Steven Kennedy, who is an associate partner at Grimshaw Architects, will present various innovative design techniques and solutions for building architectural designs in harmony with their surroundings.

Pablo Zamorano, head of the Geometry & Computational Design Department at Heatherwick Studio, who has extensive experience in applying new technologies and techniques, as well as performing challenging geometries.

Also part of the conference program will be Georgi Petrov, who is an associate director, structural engineer at SOM (Skidmore, Owings & Merrill LLP). He is experienced in a variety of challenging typologies and projects, including corporate and commercial offices, cultural and transportation buildings, as well as special glass and steel structures.

The Design Director of the London’s office of the giant Thornton Tomasetti – Daniel Bosia will join the Forum with a presentation. Currently, the team of Thornton Tomasetti works on the structural design of Jeddah Tower.

Philippe Fouché, director of SAOTA Architecture & Design, a leading South African architecture company, has a special interest in traditional architecture and sustainability, which has been successfully applied in the implementation of various projects in South Africa, West Africa, India, China and Europe.

Bulgarian speakers at the forum will rejoin as well the architect Angel Zahariev, of A & A Architects, working on some of the most significant projects in terms of space and architecture in Sofia and Bulgaria such as Sofia Capital City, NVtower and others.

For the first time at the Forum, architect Rado Todorov will present his latest works. He runs one of the fastest growing design companies in Bulgaria – "RT Consult" and "Buro International".

The program of the conference will include as well Dr. Pavlos Vatavalis, ETEM’s Chief Technical Officer. For the past 16 years, Dr. Vatavalis has worked in key sectoral positions in Europe. For 10 years he has lectured in the departments of Сivil engineering and Мechanical engineering at the University of Western Attica, as well as in various educational institutions on topics related to the intelligent facades.
