The Lime Works Conversion by Artlab Architects.

Photos: Savils.

From the 1930s these grade 2 listed water towers were part of a water softening plant on the chalky North Downs of Southern England. They were converted from the water works from 2007 onwards into this lovely home. The conversion was designed b Artlab Architects.

The strong forms and historical context are appealing in their own right, and unusual as an architect would never design such a building as a house. This is where an imaginative conversion can really make a statement.

Internally, the accommodation is arranged over four floors. There are two roof terraces on one of which is the pool. The property is around 90% complete, but has recently come on the market.
