The results are in: BMW Group FIZ Competition
The winners of the international competition for the expansion to the BMW Group’s Research and Innovation Centre (FIZ), located in the north of Munich, have been decided. At the end of September, the jury announced the internationally renowned Henn architectural studio as the winner of the project, which will involve both urban planning and landscape design.
The winners of the BMY Group’s FIZ competition:
1st prize: Henn (Munich, Germany)
2nd prize: ernst niklaus fausch architekten (Zurich, Switzerland)
3rd prize: West 8 urban design & landscape architecture (Rotterdam, Netherlands) First prize was awarded to the internationally active Henn studio, whose design won over 12 other nominations. Taking advantage of their 65 years of expertise in planning and implementation, Henn Architekten have created a master plan for what will be the world’s largest BMW location in the north of Munich. The expansion to the new Research and Innovation Centre (FIZ) will increase the centre’s capacity for research and development from about 500,000 to 800,000 m2 of floor area and create space for up to 15,000 new jobs at that location. The submission FIZ Future was developed by Henn Architekten in cooperation with landscape architects Topotek 1 (Berlin), engineers and government architects Schlegel (Munich), Lemon Consult (Zurich) and UBeG Mands & Sauer (Wetzlar).
