The Terranos cabinet by Jack Frost Design.

Picture of the cabinet.

The Terranos Cabinet is the first major piece from a promising young Australian designer, Jack Frost, who is still at college! He describes the piece as topography inspired by the natural topography of his beloved homeland, Australia. Extracts form aerial photography were used to give the forms for the front drawer faces, whilst further manipulation created 3d geometrical forms that were translated into the cabinet shape itself. But not content simply to create something beautiful, he also wanted it to stay that way seen as a finished piece, rather than a top for ornaments. It is nice to know those sloping surfaces have a function beyond their aesthetic quality! With drawer open. Corner detail. Side view.
