The TWIN Lift System - Two Cars, One Shaft, One Set of Guide Tracks

The TWIN lift system consists of two traditional friction-driven units housed in a single shaft. The cars are situated vertically above each other and travel along the same guide tracks. A four-phase safety system ensures that a minimum distance is maintained between the two cabins. The first TWIN lift was installed in 2002 in the so-called K1 building, an 11-storey structure housing the architectural faculty of the University of Stuttgart. In March 2004, a further TWIN installation was taken into operation in the headquarters of the Thyssen-Krupp concern in Düsseldorf.
