The White Arches of Athens - the Olympic Site Shortly Before the Summer Games, 2004

Santiago Calatrava recreated the existing Olympic domain for the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens. The top priority was to reorganize the complex and to produce a unified image. The roof constructions of the Velodrome and the Olympic Stadium, hung with printed banners, became the emblems of the games. Other design elements include the “Agora”, a colonnade within steel arcades, and “Nation´s Wall”, a 500 metre long sculpture of mobile rectangular pipes.
