Things for which the world does not turn.

In a competitive world where everything must apparently have a function, the Swiss artist, Giuseppe Colarusso, who lives and works in Italy, envisages a world made of useless things. Some objects are bizarre, others humorous, but all are useless for their original function.

Known as “Unlikely” one of the interesting aspects about this body of work is that it throws a cold light on the role of design, and in particular that it is an applied art. An art that is largely governed by function, and therefore an activity that is not an art at all.

Some of the pieces have actually been made from found objects, others are manipulated images, all have become art. By Christopher C. Hill.
