Timber Log Construction Today - House in Brixlegg, Tyrol

The architectural and economic significance of timber log construction is relatively small today. There are many reasons for this, including the large quantities of wood required, the high labour costs, the technical and craft constraints that have to be overcome in the planning and execution of the work, and, not least, the image of humbleness or poverty associated with this type of building. The house in Brixlegg, Tyrol, seeks to demonstrate the advantages of log construction by using modern technology to translate traditional craft techniques into a form appropriate to the 21st century.
