To think to dream: Studio Furillen by Andreas Forsberg of AQ Architects
Splendid isolation is a state of mind as well as a physical state. An interesting aspect of Studio Furillen by Andreas Forsberg of AQ Architects seeks to merge these two places into one, and in doing so, create a departure point for moments of inspiration. An eastern peninsula in Sweden with trees, the sea, small animals and the elements for company, sounds like good fodder to fertilize a think-space. The pure romance of such an idea is compelling.
The building is a box of weathered steel with an internal courtyard. When in residence, shutters slide open, the entrance platform and steps fold-out, and the place is alive. Inside it is cool white surfaces and glass throughout. Real fires maintain the thread of romance and a warm wood-lined sauna reminds you where you are.
You would however be forgiven for thinking you were just dreaming.
