Town House, Kingston University in London

Kingston University in London has a new central entrance building. The so-called Town House – designed by Grafton Architects – is intended to bring students together in a homely atmosphere and bundle previously scattered functions under one roof. Spread over a total of six floors, the building houses quiet study and library spaces, vibrant dance and event spaces, and a covered, three-story courtyard. Platforms and levels invite people to come together and discuss, enabling ever new spatial constellations. The building's great flexibility is also reflected in the scaffold-like concrete structure, which is also apparent in the urban space. Due to its multifaceted qualities, the Town House was awarded the EU Mies van der Rohe Award 2022.
