Townhouse in Munich

Munich’s Gärtnerplatz quarter is among the most desirable residential locations in the city. It is hard to find neglected townhouses here that require renovation; but one of these is located along the Reichenbachstrasse. Its Late Classicist facade was irretrievably destroyed through previous construction interventions, but is today characterised by newly interpreting historic design methods: The trichotomy of the facade though cornices and the render panels with their undulating surfaces, reminiscent of embossments, catch the eye. The motif of the wave reappears on the courtyard side. Here, suspended steel balconies swing across the entire width of the building and create narrow and wide areas.
