TUS-Supermarket with Multiplex Cinema in Novo Mesto

The medieval town of Novo Mesto, situated in the south-east of Slovenia, has a largely agricultural hinterland. The new Portoval Centre at the entrance to the town consists of a supermarket with a parking deck, leasable offices, a number of small shop units and a multiplex cinema, all housed in differently coloured cubes. The timber pedestrian deck on the roof of the green plinth structure links the various elements with the landscape. Large areas of glazing afford views into and out of the buildings, while at night, the coloured translucent polycarbonate facades reflect the bustling life that has developed here.
