Ufogel House: Like a landed UFO

The architects Peter and Lukas Jungmann of the Jungmann & Aberjung Design Agency in Lienz, Austria, have come up with this striking house. Sporting the name Ufogel (a play on the word UFO and vogel, the German for bird), the shingle-clad building seems to have just touched down in the midst of the mountains. The interior of the dwelling, which can also be used as a holiday home or a simple Alpine retreat, is almost completely made of larch, creating the impression of a unified whole, whereby the homogenous choice of material makes the furniture seem to merge into the walls. Offering living space of 45 m², the house has room for two to four people.  The large panorama window provides generous views of the snow-covered mountains and lets in plenty of daylight into the interior.
