Union Gardens Terrace Competition: Diller Scoffido and Renfro win

Competion image Image: Diller Scoffido and Renfro Diller Scoffido and Renfro have won the competition for the Union Garden Terrace in Aberdeen. The Granite Web, as the winning scheme is known, proposes the creation of eight distinct gardens with two new public squares that would create a new vitality at the heart of the city. This would be the first major commission for the New York based firm in Europe. Although it is a great coup for Aberdeen to attract such a strong scheme in response to its international garden competition, the last word as to whether the £140M project will go ahead will rest with the local people who must now vote for it in a referendum.
