Venice Biennale 2008 - Frank Gehry: Ungapatchket

Transforming the brick: Frank Gehry’s time-consuming installation in Venice

»For our installation we have selected a hotel we are designing in Moscow. The façade of the hotel will be constructed at 1/25th the size of the actual building. Workmen will be applying clay to the surfaces of the model, which is supported by an »egg-crate« armature that describes the geometries of the façade. The façade armature is structured within the space of the Arsenale by a framework of large 30cm x 30cm timbers. The application of the clay will take place over the course of the Venice Biennale, allowing exhibition visitors to view a work in process.«
