In contrast to conventional plate heat exchangers, not only heat but also humidity is recovered. This has two major advantages: in winter, the slightly humid air supply guarantees a pleasant indoor climate (in summer, excess indoor humidity is transferred outside away from the interior rooms). On the other hand, if the outside temperature is low, no condensate accumulates in the exhaust making drainage connections superfluous and eliminating the danger of icing up to a large degree. This makes it possible to do without frost protection thereby saving energy and making installation easier. The efficiency rate of 85% is very high and is only slightly lower than the best cross current flow heat exchangers that can reach 90%.
