VIP view: TLT Tilting Hotel by BIG

As far as hotel experiences go, leaning out over a lake with a view of the mountains around Guiyang in China, promises to be a memorable one. The building, designed by BIG, aims to increase the profile of an area already popular with tourists through the iconic nature of the building design. The city's educational cultural centre could well become something of a architectural theme park with apparently several international practices creating proposals there.
According to eVolo it is suggested that by leaning the building out over the lake there is a functional logic in that it aims to: 'minimise the hotel's influence on the central view from the lake to the mountain, while improving its own visibility.' Having not visited the site it is difficult to know if the inclination of the tower will minimise the impact on the important mountain view, however, I am confident that if built, the tower would be highly visible.
