Waste-Disposal Yard in Munich
Maki von Foscarini, Design von Studio Nendo
Centres for the collection and disposal of recyclable and problematic waste materials are usually located on the periphery of towns where the urban structure is not well defined. The present complex, therefore, provided the opportunity to develop a specific low-budget building type that could be used in different situations. Laid out round a central yard, which serves as a parking area for visitors’ and works vehicles, are four independent structures – a staff building, a store, a building for the treatment of problematic waste materials and an enclosure for containers. Each of these structures is in a different form of construction; they are unified, however, by the similarity of their forms and their bright yellow canopy roofs.
