We have liftoff: Pole House by F2 Architecture

Photo: Matt Lord
More seclusion- and view- are hardly possible. The platform for this spectacular house on Australia’s Great Ocean Road rests on a 13-metre-high concrete pylon.
F2 Architecture has designed the Pole House, which is accessible only via a narrow concrete bridge. The two sides which face the hill are clad in metal in order to provide the residents with the greatest possible degree of privacy. The two ocean-facing sides are completely glazed, as is the edge of the verandah, meaning there is nothing to block the impressive view. Inside, a fireplace suspended from the ceiling provides warmth. This is indeed the ultimate retreat.
