The exhibition YAS: Young Architects of Spain, a Window to the Unknown
is on display at the American Institute of Architects Gallery in Washington, until October 15.
62 Projects of Spanish architects under 40 are in the focus of the exhibition - their main common denominator: their youth, their interest for investigation and teaching and an international focus of their career paths.
The international jury made up of prestigious architects and critics like Kenneth Frampton, Alberto Campo Baeza and Juhani Pallasmaa chose these buildings out of over 700 projects presented to the panel, because they are rigorous in their construction as well as sensitive and practical in their approach to their cultural and/ or natural surrounding environment.
The exhibition YAS: Young Architects of Spain, a Window to the Unknown has been curated by Jesús Aparicio Guisado to promote Spanish architecture and to show - after years of the influence of established architects like Rafael Moneo, Santiago Calatrava, Campo Baeza and Navarro Baldeweg – the creation of the next generation of Spanish architects.
The exhibition is sponsored by the Spanish Agency of International Cooperation for Development of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Spanish Housing Ministry, the Spain- USA Foundation, and the Embassy of Spain.
