Visions of a climate-neutral car factory

The Rotterdam office OMA, together with 3XN from Copenhagen, will redesign the factory halls of the BMW Group at their main facility in Munich.

The Klimatorium on the west coast of Denmark is concerned with research into climate protection solutions. The new building’s logo has been expressed by the architects in three-dimensional form and integrated it into the façade.

An exterior envelope consisting of triangular glass elements slanted at various angles wraps the new office building at Washingtonplatz.

Movement, flexibility, transparency and sustainability are values espoused by the IOC. At the new Olympic House in Lausanne, these values are consistently displayed in the form of architecture.

3XN Architects have conceptualized a modern colosseum in a little-used district of the Norwegian city of Bergen.

Transparency and communication have been key concepts in the winning project. The "vertical campus" is designed to support the university's goals of self-awareness, innovation, functionality and profitability.

The Norwegian city of Molde has 25,000 inhabitants but is flooded by 100,000 music fans at the international jazz invasion every year. 3XN had to design a new cultural center that fits on both scales.

I have a good collection of Norwegian Jazz thanks to my much-loved Norwegian friend who wanted me to know of the vibrant jazz scene in that country. Of course I expressed my doubts: improbable... where does the tradition come from... who are these musicians... etc. All a ploy of course, in the hope of getting another excellent recording for my next birthday present!Such a ploy today would be hopeless. The “Plassen” (meaning square or place) designed by 3XN Architects has opened. For the first time it gives the world famous Molde's International Jazz Festival an undeniable, and rather special architectural presence.
