From gorge to cave
Holiday Home by HW Studio in Mexico
The refuge created by HW Studio Arquitectos for a client in need of tranquillity stands on a plateau over a slope not far from the city of Morelia. Instead of rising above the natural surroundings, the holiday home hides beneath a covering of grass. Only parallel concrete walls indicate a structure here. A long gorge in the entrance area stages arrivals, while the cave-like living space within opens onto the scenery in a broad arch. In this video, the camera approaches the building via an unpaved path, vaults into the air to provide a view from above and ultimately leads viewers through the gorge and into the cave. Architect Rogelio Vallejo Bores explains the concept behind his design.
