Pointed roofs in the Dolomites: Tree Houses by Peter Pichler Architecture

© Peter Pichler Architecture

Peter Pichler Architecture of Milan has developed a concept for a more leisurely form of tourism, one that enables a closer connection to nature.  Against the densely forested slopes of Italy's Dolomites mountains, clustered Tree Houses with pointed roofs are to rise in a cluster like genuine features of the landscape.

The two-storey Tree Houses varying between 35 and 40 square metres in size are to form an addition to an existing hotel complex. Each one has a lounging and reading area on the ground level, and a sleeping area and small bathroom on the upper one, with an internal staircase connecting the two. The houses are to be mainly built of regionally-sourced spruce and larch in overall structure and thanks to their black exterior merge in with the depths of the mountain forest.

Although the project name might suggest otherwise, the Tree Houses are not built in the branches of trees in the classical way but rest on a small concrete foundation.
