Altglascontainer und Altpapiersammlungen sind beim Recycling nur die sprichw�rtliche "Spitze des Eisbergs". Viel gr��ere Mengen an wieder verwertbaren Rohstoffen fallen bei Bauarbeiten an. Abrisse, Umbauten, Sanierungen und Stra�enarbeiten verursachen allein in Deutschland jedes Jahr rund 80 Millionen Tonnen Bauschutt - das sind rund 60 Prozent aller hierzulande anfallenden Abf�lle.

Nichtbehandeltes Holz kann zu 100% wiederverwertet werden und sogar mehrere Zyklen von Wiederverwertung und Wiederverarbeitung durchlaufen. Das Recycling von Holz sch�tzt nicht nur W�lder vor der Abholzung, sondern vermindert auch die Freisetzung von Kohlenstoffdioxid. Pro Tonne Holz, die recycelt wird, k�nnen 1,03 Tonnen CO2 eingespart werden, da die Kohlenstoffdioxide, die bei Verbrennung oder Kompostierung frei geworden w�ren, im Holz verbleiben.

Nur sortenreines Ausgangsmaterial kann eine gleich bleibende Qualit�t der Zuschlagstoffe und damit auch des Recyclingbetons garantieren. Der Baustoff Recyclingbeton wird in Deutschland noch wenig genutzt. Nur etwa ein bis drei Millionen Tonnen werden bisher j�hrlich verbaut.
